What a beautiful testimony of God’s character! He truly sees past the physical and straight to the heart. This challenging goal can only be accomplished if we speak the truth Gods Spirit-inspired message ( 2 Timothy 3:16-17) with an attitude of love ( Ephesians 4:29-32 ). Yet, against all of our rationale, God chose Rahab to help His people, and eventually become part of the lineage of Jesus. Our goal as believers is to mature into the loving presence of Christ Jesus as his unified bodily presence in our divided world. While it made sense that they would lodge at a house located on the wall of Jericho-for strategic purposes, it doesn’t make sense that they chose to lodge with a harlot.Īgainst the commandments of God, a harlot would normally have been avoided at all cost. I find it interesting that the two Israelite spies, sent by Joshua to search out the land of Jericho, went specifically to the house of Rahab the harlot. Before his downfall a mans heart is proud, but humility comes before honor. I love how the Lord employed unlikely people to do extraordinary things. Those who are lifted up with such wisdom, described by the apostle James, is near to the Christian love, described by the apostle Paul and both are so described that every man may fully prove the reality of his attainments in them. Such wisdom comes not down from above, but springs up from earthly principles, acts on earthly motives, and is intent on serving earthly purposes. Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens. Those who live in malice, envy, and contention, live in confusion and are liable to be provoked and hurried to any evil work. True wisdom may be know by the meekness of the spirit and temper. He who thinks well, or he who talks well, is not wise in the sense of the Scripture, if he does not live and act well.
